AdSense site status explained: Getting ready, Requires review, Needs attention and Ready
By the ads-txt.in team · Published November 8, 2026
When you add a site to AdSense, the Sites page shows its status. Knowing what each status means tells you whether to wait, act or celebrate.
Getting ready
Google is reviewing your site. This can take anything from a few days to several weeks. Keep the AdSense code or verification tag in place, keep your site online, and continue publishing. You do not need to do anything else.
Requires review
The site has been added but not yet submitted for review, or you need to confirm something before the review starts, such as verifying ownership. Open the site’s details and follow the steps to request a review.
Needs attention
Google has found a problem. It may be that the site is unavailable, the code cannot be found, or there are policy issues such as low value content. Open the site to read the reason, fix it, tick the confirmation box and request another review. Our guide on low value content covers the most common reason.
Ready
Your site is approved and ads can be shown. Set up Auto ads or ad units, and make sure your ads.txt line is in place.
Separate ads.txt status
The Sites page may also show an ads.txt status for each domain. “Authorised” means Google found your publisher ID in the file. “Not found” or “Unauthorised” means the file is missing or does not include your ID correctly. Use our checker to see what Google’s crawler sees.
A note on timing
AdSense interfaces change over time, and Google sometimes renames statuses. The meaning stays similar: in review, waiting for you, problem found, or approved. When in doubt, the details panel for each site gives the current explanation.
