No “Sites” option in AdSense? How to upgrade a YouTube or Blogger hosted account
By the ads-txt.in team · Published November 8, 2026
Some publishers sign in to AdSense and find only Home, Reports, Payments and Account in the menu, with no option to add a website. This usually means the account is a hosted account, created through YouTube or another partner platform.
What a hosted account is
When you join the YouTube Partner Programme, you link an AdSense for YouTube account to receive payments. That account is designed for earnings from the partner platform only. It does not include the menus for adding your own websites, which is why the Sites page is missing.
Do not create a second account
AdSense policy allows one account per publisher. Instead of opening a new account, upgrade the one you have. Your payment details and YouTube earnings stay in the same account.
How to upgrade
- Make sure your website is live and meets AdSense policies.
- Go to the AdSense sign-up page at adsense.google.com/start and choose to get started.
- Sign in with the same Google account that owns your current AdSense account.
- Enter the URL of the website where you want to show ads.
- Follow the steps to connect your site, usually by adding the AdSense code or a verification meta tag.
- Submit your site for review.
Google then reviews your site and account. The process usually takes a few days, though it can take longer. After approval, your account gains the full set of menus, including Sites and Ads.
Prepare before you apply
The site review for an upgrade uses the same standards as a new application. Make sure your site has substantial, original content, clear navigation and the usual About, Contact and Privacy pages. Our approval checklist helps you check the basics, and our ads.txt generator creates the file you will need once approved.
